DJI has unveiled the $799 ‘smartphone-size’ DJI Mavic Air

At an event yesterday in New York, The drone manufacturer DJI unveiled its latest drone, the DJI Mavic Air.

The Mavic Air is about the width and height of a smartphone when its propellor arms are folded closed, and just as powerful as its larger Pro drone.

The Mavic Air goes where you go, enabling limitless exploration wherever adventure takes you.  Key features include 32MP Sphere Panoramas, Foldable & Portable, 3-Axis Gimbal & 4K Camera, 3-Directional Environment Sensing, SmartCapture, 21-Minute Max Flight Time, and Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems. It’s small size and 3D foldable design includes a 3-axis mechanical gimbal set in a triangular formation, allowing for even steadier shots.

“When DJI introduced the Mavic Pro, it reinvented what a consumer drone could be: powerful, yet portable, accessible, but advanced,” said Roger Luo, President at DJI. “Today, with the introduction of Mavic Air, we have pushed these attributes to the next level to create our best consumer drone yet.”

The Mavic Air will retail for $799 with three color options Onyx Black, Arctic White, and Flame Red. Pre-orders begin today with shipping to begin on January 28.
