Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon X50, The World’s First 5G Modem with up to 5Gbps

Chipmaker Qualcomm announced the arrival of the world’s fist 5G modem, the Snapdragon X50, which claims to support download speed of up to 5Gps.

Unlike the average 4G speed that currently gives about 13.5Mbps, The Snapdragon X50 will be capable of delivering like 400 times of that of 4G.

 

 

When cellulars networks start supporting gigabit level download speed access to mobile phones, then we will land in and era where speed will be a thing of the mind.

Qualcomm noted that it will start sending out chips sample to manufacturers around the second half of 2017, and you can expect to see smartphones shipping with them starting in 2018.
